20th Forum 2000 Conference: The Courage to Take Responsibility

16.10.2016 19.10.2016

The life and work of Václav Havel, an intellectual, an author, a political prisoner, a human rights defender and a president of a country, is an amazing example of democratic leadership and of taking personal responsibility for the state of public affairs and the world as a whole. Nevertheless, today´s democratic leadership seems to be in crisis, contending with a lack of vision, ability to except responsibility, and perhaps even courage to lead. Are the current democratic systems unable to generate true leaders? Is the growing authoritarianism in the world a result of the weakness of democratic leadership? Where are the Havels, Churchills, or Mandelas of today?

The 20th annual Forum 2000 Conference will offer a wide array of discussion and panels.

For more information please follow http://www.forum2000.cz/en/projects/forum-2000-conferences/2016/.

Registrations required to participate at the discussions held at Žofín Palace, Mánes Gallery and the Goethe Institut in Prague and at events marked in the program as “by special invitation only” are available via Forum 2000 on-line registration system from August 1, 2016 until October 7, or until capacity is reached.

Discussions and other events held at different venues in Prague and other cities as part of the Festival od Democracy are open to the public without pre-registration. Part of the proceedings will be broadcast live on Forum 2000 website.
