1/ Bachelor’s degree

The program is designed for students from all over the world who have completed their bachelor’s education or who will finish it by the end of August before the start of each academic year. Previous education in international relations, political science, history, law, economy, sociology, public policy, public administration, or other social sciences or humanities is an advantage. We encourage students from other programs to apply as well.

How to prove your bachelor’s degree:

  • Graduates of Czech and Slovak universities provide a legalized (notarized) copy of their university Diploma;
  • Graduates of other universities provide a legalized (notarized) copy of their university Diploma and an academic transcript. If you earned your degree from other than Czech or Slovak university, you will need to request to have your previous education recognized (for details see section Nostrification of previous education).

The bachelor’s degree should be completed at best by the date of the admission exam. Applicants who have not finished their bachelor’s education by that date must do so by the end of August before the start of each academic year; they shall provide all required documents not later than on the first day of the winter semester.

2/ English knowledge

The following certificates are accepted:

  • TOEFL (minimum points in the test / versions: PBT – 550, CBT – 213, IBT – 87)
  • IELTS (result: 5,0-6,0)
  • Cambridge ESOL FCE
  • or another internationally accepted English certificate corresponding to the “B2″ level of the CEFR

Certificate in English is not required if student’s previous education or a significant part of it (min. 50 credits equivalent to ECTS = 1300 /50 x 26/ hours of study at least) was in English.

3/ Second language knowledge

Besides the knowledge of English, students are supposed to know another international language (at the moment we require either French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish). The level of knowledge of the second language shall be confirmed by applicant’s previous university (academic transcript), school or other institution of language education.

4/ Admission exam (long-distance via e-mail exam) – Friday, May 4, 2012

  1. Written part
    • An essay in English on a given international relations issue, 1 200 words (in general, it will correspond to the level of bachelor’s knowledge at the University of Economics, Prague; applicants are e-mailed a theme for an essay on the day of the long-distance exam, and have to complete it an alloted time and e-mail it back)
    • Max. 200 points (min. 100 points)
  2. Letter of motivation
    • In English (motivation to study, comprehensive overview of international relations)
    • Max. 100 points (min. 50 points)
    • Sent with the essay

5/ Application fee

EUR 50 – (see the Bank details) to be paid by the deadline of application (end of April). Info on the tuition fee is available here.
