The course 2SM443 Quantitative methods in International Relations will be taught by Dr. Ayaz Zeynalov.

The course is intended to be an introduction to the statistical methodology in the empirical studies including but not limited to international relations. The course aims to answer essential student question: Why do we need to study quantitative methods?

The main objective of course is develop students’ ability:

  • to read quantitative results from academic articles in applied international relations,
  • understand the empirical analysis and assess the statistical inferences behind research,
  • improve the capacity to conduct intelligent analyses of statistical data in response to theoretical questions,
  • last but not least, infuse practical statistical analysis skill that will be a useful foundation for future quantitative work.
