What do the International and Diplomatic Studies programme’s current students have to say?

Laura

Laura

Laura is from Slovakia and she is a 3rd-year student of the Bachelor in International and Diplomatic Studies (IDS).

“The Faculty of International Relations (FIR) and the International and Diplomatic Studies (IDS) bachelor’s programme offers a broad spectrum of opportunities and knowledge about how the world around us works. The discovery continues not only during my classes but also through our work environment. Our small class group consists of numerous cultures worldwide. I am thankful I can learn about them by forming deeper friendships and connections. The professors have always been open to us, enthusiastic, and fostered flourishing discussions to shift our knowledge and attention outside the conventional box.

My most extraordinary experience has been the courses I took. They have given me a deeper understanding of the situations and difficulties around us. The Politics and Economics of Climate Change course pushed me to take action and get involved as a volunteer and activist with Greenpeace. Taking Chinese classes has broadened my horizons on how culture can translate into language. Media and information policies in contemporary knowledge-based societies, taught by a highly educated professor and journalist from Russia, carried me through his life story and gave me insight into the mindset and subsequent actions of the culture. The International Security Relations course pointed me in the direction of where I want to move after my bachelor studies. I believe that studying at FIR can show you your life paths as well.“

Alex Zoe

“The faculty fosters a community of passionate students with unique, international perspectives. Within our studies, we are encouraged to challenge ourselves through discussions and debates that broaden our understanding of the global environment.

There are many reasons why I love studying in Prague, but if I had to choose just one, it would be the city’s incredible mix of history, culture, and creativity. Prague is a city that is steeped in history and tradition, with stunning architecture, museums, and cultural landmarks around every corner. At the same time, it is a city that is constantly evolving, with a vibrant arts and culture scene, innovative startups, and a diverse international community. This combination of history and creativity creates a unique and inspiring environment that makes studying in Prague a truly unforgettable experience.

The IDS program equips me with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to make a meaningful impact in the field of international affairs. From a young age, I have been fascinated by global events and the ways in which politics and diplomacy shape our world. As I pursued my undergraduate degree in economics, I became increasingly interested in the complexities of international relations and the critical role that diplomacy plays in facilitating peaceful and constructive relationships between nations.

The IDS master’s program allows me to explore the political, economic, and cultural dimensions of international affairs provides the opportunity to engage with a diverse community of scholars and practitioners, and to develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are necessary for effective leadership in this field.”

The Faculty provides a high-quality, globally acknowledged education that will equip you for a fulfilling career in diplomacy and international relations. Although you will study in English, you will also get the chance to learn a second language, which is essential in today’s global society.
