Admission assessment
Admission is based on two parts, each worth up to 50 points:
- Online interview – your overview of international affairs and your ability to think about them critically. The committee chooses the topic from the list below.
- Study results – assessed from your bachelor’s transcript of records.
You need at least 25 points in each part and a total above the threshold set by the Dean. Applicants are then admitted in order of their total score.
The interview tests your overview, not detailed knowledge. Expect questions on:
- The contemporary international system – its main historical stages, key features of today’s international order and the global economy.
- Actors in international relations – states, international organisations (especially the UN and EU), NGOs and multinational corporations.
- Main theoretical approaches – realism, liberalism, constructivism and critical approaches.
- Foreign policy and diplomacy – goals and instruments, including economic diplomacy.
- International security – causes of conflicts, ways of resolving them, and their economic consequences.
- Globalisation – its effects on states, foreign policy and the world economy.
- International law – basic principles, compliance and enforcement, including sanctions.
- Ethics in international relations – key ethical problems in world politics and the global economy.
The whole admission process is online – no need to travel to Prague.
