Final State Exam (end of 6th semester)

In the IDS bachelor’s programme, the bachelor’s thesis defence and the final state exam are held together as one combined and inseparable examination, referred to as a defence–state exam.

The examination is an oral exam conducted before a State Examination Committee. The examination period follows the official VŠE academic calendar, which applies to all faculties.

For IDS bachelor students, the exam is listed in InSIS as:

oSZ – 2IDB – International and Diplomatic Studies – Bachelor’s State Exam


How to Register for the State Exam in InSIS

The final state exam is classified as an extra-semester course, but you register for it in the same way as regular courses.

Follow these steps in InSIS:

Go to
InSIS → My Study → Student’s Portal → Registration/Enrollment → Extra-sem. courses

Select and register for:

oSZ – 2IDB – International and Diplomatic Studies – Bachelor’s State Exam


Bachelor’s Defence–State Exam — What to Expect

The exam takes the form of a discussion where you:

  • defend your bachelor’s thesis, and
  • answer additional questions related to the study programme and its core topics.

Timing & Submission Rules

  • If you submit your thesis in InSIS, you will automatically be scheduled for the state exam in the respective examination period.
  • ⚠️ You cannot select the exam date yourself — it will be assigned by the faculty / IDS office.
