Final Thesis Defense & State Exam – Important Information for IDS Students
In the IDS master’s programme, the final thesis defense and the state exam are held together as one combined and inseparable examination, referred to as a defense-state exam.
-
For IDS students, the exam is listed in InSIS under the code 2IDN, carries 12 ECTS, and you can find the syllabus here.
-
The exam takes the form of a discussion (rozprava) where you primarily defend your thesis, but you may also be asked additional questions related to the topics listed under “Course contents” in the syllabus.
What’s new compared to previous years:
-
You will not draw a specific exam question in advance – questions may be asked as part of the discussion.
-
There is no separate state exam for the minor specialization. However, all your courses (including from the minor) must be successfully completed and graded to be admitted to the exam.
Timing & submission rules:
-
If you submit your thesis in InSIS, you will automatically be scheduled to take the state exam in the respective examination period.
-
⚠️ You cannot select the date yourself – it will be assigned by the faculty/IDS office.
